– Exclusive photographs taken by Quincy Quarry indicate suspected safety violations on the old City Hall renovation project.
The mess that is Quincy’s historic Old City Hall has new problems. Along with related story in Quincy Quarry, Quincy Center Parking Crisis Worsens, exclusive photographs taken by Quincy Quarry indicate suspected safety violations on the old City Hall renovation project.
Given the latest cordoning off of old City Hall, pedestrian traffic along City Hall side of Hancock Street has been rerouted off of the sidewalk (see photo below, center) and onto the street. This was done in ways proper to duly protect pedestrians.
Now, however, a large crane is in place to support excavation work and pedestrians are forced to pass both within and under its slewing zone in apparent violation of safety regulations (see warning sign on photo below, left) as well as without benefit of any overhead safety protection.
As is all too typical, City Hall officials were unavailable to Quincy Quarry for comment. In this instance, the apparent work safety violations were ongoing long before anyone senior shows up at City Hall to pretend to work.
