Southern Artery was again shut down after pedestrian was hit by a motor vehicle yesterday evening.

Further disconcerting was how her crying which could he heard in the background of Quincy police radio chatter.

No word, however, as to her condition; at the same time, the radio chatter indicated that the driver of the vehicle was taken to police headquarters for at least questioning.

Also unclear is if the construction disruption along Southern Artery care of the costs-soaring Quincy Police headquarters replacement project may have been a factor and which if so could potentially again exposé the City of Quincy and thus ultimately local taxpayers to an expensive liability claim.

What is clear is that shortly after traffic in Quincy returned to its usual sorry state after yesterday’s 69th Annual Quincy Christmas Parade ended as such not only reopened Hancock Street from Firestone Tire on the edge of Quincy Center to North Quincy High School to regular traffic, the conclusion of the parade also allowed regular traffic flow on the major crossroads of School and Elm Streets, Hannon Parkway and Revere Road, Furnace Brook Parkway, Southern Artery, Beach and Beale Streets, and Squantum Street, traffic in the vicinity of the Quincy Police Department headquarters was again disrupted given yet another nearby pedestrian strike.
