Melania Trump breaks precedent again by not walking to Marine One with the President.

In an all but unprecedented move Friday, First Lady Melania Trump went against tradition and did not travel on Marine One with her husband to then board Air Force One.

While the usual protocol is the the First Couple walk across the White House Lawn together to board Marine One, this week before the Trumps headed to Parkland FL to meet with surviving mass shooting victims, CNN reported Melania was driven to nearby Andrews Air Force Base separately ahead of her husband to board Air Force One for their flight to Florida.

The First Lady did later accompany her husband when they visited the mass shooting victims.

 

The First Lady’s communications director told People Magazine: “(w)ith her schedule today it was easier to meet at the plane.”

 

This change in standard operating travel practices was reported by CNN shortly after allegations were published in The New Yorker that Trump had an affair over a decade ago with Karen McDougal, a onetime Playboy Playmate of the Year.

Conversely, the Los Angeles Times views Trump’s Playboy Playmate sex scandal as just another ho-hum day in his presidency.

 

Regardless, Melania continues to arguably be blazing her own path to perhaps become the most radical first lady in American history.
