Governor Chris Christie’s last big move could have national impact.

As woefully as well as likely irremediably unpopular as New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is at this point, in his last days in office come the end of his term in December, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie may be able to make one very important decision that could have a national impact.

Governor Christie could find himself in the position to be able to fill a potentially vacant U.S. Senate seat currently held by Robert Menendez, a Democratic and the senior senator from New Jersey.

Senator Menendez is currently scheduled to go on trial for corruption in September and, if convicted, he would be then forced out of office and so potentially allowing Christie to appoint a replacement.

In turn, if Senator Menendez is convicted and forced out of office, will Governor Christie then opt to replace Menendez with a Republican and so increase the narrow GOP majority in the U. S. Senate?

Might Christie endeavor to name himself to succeed Menendez?

Or will Christie instead opt to go the way of former Democratic Governor of Illinois and now convicted felon serving time Rod Blagojevich by endeavoring to sell the seat to the highest bidder?

Stay tuned for news as it might break on this matter.
