Quincy Center’s dangerously sideways streetlight six months anniversary upcoming!
With April showers supposedly comes May flowers; however, this year’s return of fair weather has yet to yield any work done to remove, much less replace, the relatively new and expensive cast iron streetlight along Hannon Parkway that was knocked dangerously sideways during November of last year.
As locals will recall, city officials touted the cost savings and better servicing that the city would provide after it took after ownership of all of the local streetlights from National Grid.
So much for at least the latter half of that promise in this particular instance.

As such, given numerous Quincy Quarry stories about this particular long ongoing as well as multifaceted public safety shortcoming, the Quarry yet again considered reaching to City of Quincy Department of Public Works Commissar Dan “Spanky” Raymondi for comment.
Fortunately, the Quarry City Editor decided that its news team has far more important things to do than listen to Spanky go on and on and on and on even more about the hardworking men and (some, ed.) women at the DPW when the Quarry as well as ever increasingly more Quincy residents know better.
On the bright side of things, the reduction of light in this area overnight courtesy of this long broken streetlight surely makes it easier for an overnight camper to sleep at night at a nearby unauthorized campsite.
Even so, Quincy Quarry’s ever growing legions of loyal readers can rest assured that the Quarry will continue to monitor this clear as well as surely ever present danger to public safety even if city officials apparently do not see it as such.
